Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on his visit to Indonesia, gifted President Prabowo Subianto with unique items representing India’s artistic heritage. Among the gifts was Manohari Gold Tea, a speciality tea from Assam known for its golden appearance and delicate flavor, made in limited quantities. Additionally, an Uttarakhand Aipan art piece dedicated to Lord Shiva was presented, showcasing intricate white patterns on a terracotta-red base.
PM Modi also offered a traditional Kashmiri Papier-Mache bowl featuring hand-painted floral and bird motifs to President Prabowo. This bowl, a symbol of Kashmir’s renowned handicraft tradition, is decorated using the Naqashi technique, highlighting intricate floral designs and fine gold detailing. Furthermore, a Traditional Repousse silver decorative plate, reflecting India’s silversmithing tradition, was gifted, featuring a central lotus medallion surrounded by elephants and ornate floral borders.
In a separate gesture, PM Modi gifted Odisha Ikat, known locally as Bandha, to Indonesia’s Parliament Speaker, Puan Maharani. This handloom silk tradition is celebrated for its tie-and-dye technique, vibrant designs, and intricate patterns, showcasing the rich textile heritage of India.
