Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honored with the ‘Royal Order of Polar Star’ Commander Grand Cross by Sweden during his official visit to the Nordic country. This prestigious award is the highest recognition bestowed upon a Head of Government. The Royal Order was presented to PM Modi by Swedish Crown Princess Victoria at the County Governor’s residence in the presence of Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
This marks the 31st global honor conferred upon PM Modi. The Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf personally decided to award the ‘Royal Order of the Polar’ Commander Grand Cross to Prime Minister Modi, as confirmed by the Swedish Prime Minister’s office. The Order of the Polar Star, established in 1748, is given to individuals for their significant contributions to Sweden or Swedish interests, as highlighted by the Swedish PM’s office.
During the visit, PM Modi and Swedish Prime Minister Kristersson exchanged special gifts symbolizing the enduring cultural and intellectual connections between India and Sweden, with a focus on Rabindranath Tagore. PM Modi’s visit to Sweden follows his trip to the Netherlands and includes discussions on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding trade opportunities.
