Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to speak at a national-level ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan’ at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Monday at 11 a.m. The event will see the participation of distinguished individuals and accomplished women from various sectors like government, academia, science, sports, entrepreneurship, media, social work, and culture.
The gathering aims to bring together a diverse group of stakeholders to discuss the role of women in India’s progress. It is part of the government’s broader initiative to promote women-led development and advocate for increased female involvement in decision-making processes.
This program will spotlight the rising number of women in leadership positions, ranging from local governance bodies such as Panchayats to the national Parliament. It follows the significant enactment of the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ in September 2023, which introduced one-third reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies.
The upcoming Parliament session from April 16 to 18 will focus on the implementation of women’s reservation nationwide. The ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan’ is expected to generate momentum for this cause and reaffirm the government’s dedication to fostering greater inclusivity in governance.
Emphasizing women’s role in shaping India’s future, the event aligns with the nation’s goal of achieving developed status by 2047, known as ‘Viksit Bharat 2047.’ The government’s vision for a developed India centers on women-led development, a theme that the Sammelan aims to reinforce and advance for inclusive and sustainable progress.
