Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to meet with the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, in New Delhi on Friday to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity, and regional matters. Christodoulides arrived in the national capital on Thursday and was welcomed by Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) welcomed President Christodoulides and highlighted the significance of his visit, emphasizing the aim to strengthen the partnership between India and Cyprus. The visit follows PM Modi’s historic trip to Cyprus in June 2025, showcasing the mutual commitment to bolstering ties.
During his stay in New Delhi, Christodoulides is set to meet with President Droupadi Murmu and attend an official banquet hosted in his honor. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will also hold discussions with President Christodoulides before his meeting with PM Modi at the Hyderabad House.
Describing his State Visit to India as “very important,” Christodoulides stressed the importance of enhancing the already strong relationship between the two nations. His visit, accompanied by a high-level delegation including Cyprus Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos and Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades, aims to deepen economic and strategic cooperation between India and Cyprus.
