Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address on February 4. The discussion, which began with Sarbananda Sonowal initiating it, will feature five prominent BJP speakers. Rijiju criticized the Opposition for its negative stance towards the Union Budget, highlighting the positive aspects.
Today, five BJP speakers are scheduled to participate in the 18-hour discussion spread over three days, with the NDA receiving approximately 55% of the allotted time. The motion will be introduced by Sarbananda Sonowal and seconded by Tejasvi Surya, followed by the Leader of the Opposition before the Prime Minister’s response on February 4.
Rijiju emphasized that the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address will be succeeded by a detailed debate on the Union Budget. He pointed out the significant increase in capital expenditure under the current government compared to the UPA regime, reaching around Rs 12.5 lakh crore.
Accusing the Congress of spreading misinformation and maintaining a negative outlook on the budget, Rijiju highlighted India’s economic progress on the global stage. He noted the country’s growing economic influence, attracting interest for free trade agreements and advancements in exports like mobile phones, which the opposition allegedly fails to acknowledge.
