Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Slovakia on Sunday at the invitation of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. This visit will be significant as it marks the first time an Indian Prime Minister has visited Slovakia since its independence in 1993, signifying a historic moment in the relationship between the two countries. During the visit, PM Modi will engage in delegation-level discussions with Prime Minister Fico and meet with President Peter Pellegrini to explore opportunities for collaboration in trade, investment, automobile manufacturing, and railway infrastructure.
The Ministry of External Affairs has emphasized that this visit will reinforce India’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with Slovakia across various sectors. India’s Ambassador to Slovakia, Apoorva Srivastava, has underscored the importance of the visit, stating that it will not only strengthen political ties but also deepen economic security and people-to-people connections. Ambassador Srivastava mentioned that Prime Minister Modi will have meetings with the CEOs of several major companies in Slovakia to further economic cooperation.
In preparation for the visit, Slovak President Peter Pellegrini welcomed PM Modi, describing the upcoming trip as historic and expressing anticipation for enhanced cooperation between Slovakia and India. Following his visit to Slovakia, PM Modi will proceed to France to participate in the G7 Summit in Evian on June 16–17, engaging with leaders from G7 countries, partner nations, and international organizations. Subsequently, on June 18, the Prime Minister will travel to Paris for additional bilateral meetings and attend the VivaTech Summit, Europe’s largest technology and startup event, where he is expected to address the Indian community.
