The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), led by Anbumani Ramadoss, has revealed its candidates for the 15 remaining constituencies assigned to it within the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The party had initially been granted 18 seats in the alliance, with candidates for three constituencies already declared. Notably, Sowmiya Anbumani, the wife of PMK President Anbumani Ramadoss, will be contesting from the Dharmapuri constituency, emphasizing the party’s focus on crucial strongholds.
In the Perambur constituency in Chennai, PMK treasurer Thilagavathy has been named as the party’s candidate. This constituency is anticipated to witness a significant contest, as Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay is also a contender for the same seat. Anbu Cholan, who had initially declined to contest, has been nominated to stand from the Tiruporur constituency, where he will face advocate K. Balu.
In a strategic move, PMK has put forward its candidate in the reserved Kattumannarkoil constituency against VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan, setting the stage for a closely watched competition. The party has also made changes in sitting constituencies, with Mailam MLA Sivakumar shifted to Vikravandi and former AIADMK minister and Rajya Sabha MP, C.V. Shanmugam, contesting from Mailam.
Furthermore, Mettur MLA, C. Sadasivam, will be contesting from Salem North, indicating a reshuffle aimed at bolstering the party’s chances. In other significant constituencies, Dr. Tamilarasi Adhiyaman, State Secretary of the Pattali Mahila Sangam, will be contesting from Vridhachalam, while former MLA Karthi has been nominated from Salem West. Party State Vice-President Padi Selvam, C.R. Bhaskaran, and Joint General Secretary Vaithi will contest from Pennagaram, Polur, and Jayankondam, respectively.
Advocate K. Saravanan has been named as the candidate from Sholingur, Siddhamalli Palaniswami from Mayiladuthurai, P. Maheshkumar from Uthiramerur, and A.P. Chezhiyan from Rishivandiyam. With these selections, PMK has finalized its candidate list for all 18 constituencies, demonstrating its preparedness for the competitive electoral battle within the NDA alliance in Tamil Nadu.
