The Special Crime Unit (SCU) of the Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar apprehended a notorious criminal engaged in illegal arms dealings. Acting on intelligence inputs, the SCU conducted a successful operation targeting illicit arms trafficking. During a late-night raid, the police captured the suspect, Amaresh Rout, also known as Kahna, from Sundarapada under the Airfield police jurisdiction.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Manas Kumar Swain mentioned that Kahna, who worked at a finance company, was interrogated to uncover more details about the gun-running network. The raid resulted in the seizure of two semi-automatic pistols, ten live rounds of ammunition, two magazines, a mobile phone, and a two-wheeler.
The Commissionerate police emphasized their dedication to eliminating the illegal firearms trade in Bhubaneswar. They highlighted the significance of seizing a substantial cache of weapons and apprehending key suspects as a substantial step towards safeguarding the community.
