Police in Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir, apprehended a drug peddler during a routine check and found 771 grams of contraband in his possession. The suspect, identified as Mohd Arif Malik, was intercepted near Women’s Degree College with a substantial amount of charas chora/ganja-like substance. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered, and investigations are ongoing.
The police emphasized their commitment to combating drug-related crimes and urged the public to report any information on drug abuse or trafficking. Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified efforts against not only terrorism but also illegal activities like drug smuggling and hawala money rackets. These illicit activities are believed to fund terrorism in the region.
The Army and Border Security Forces are actively preventing infiltration, exfiltration, and smuggling activities along the Line of Control and international border. Drones, often used by terror groups with external support, are a growing concern for security forces as they are used to transport arms, cash, and drugs into Indian territory to fuel terrorism.
