In a significant move against illegal psychotropic medicine trade, the North-East District Police have dismantled an interstate drug trafficking network, confiscating more than 19.70 lakh Tramadol and Alprazolam tablets and capsules, weighing around 470.686 kg, along with a Tata Safari SUV.

Five individuals have been apprehended, shedding light on a sophisticated operation involved in acquiring, storing, and circulating controlled pharmaceutical drugs across multiple states. This breakthrough follows an investigation stemming from FIR No. 279/2026 at Jyoti Nagar Police Station, building on a prior arrest of a father-son duo on June 20, 2026.

During the probe, interrogation of detained individuals Shivam Gupta, Virpal Gupta, and Nadeem led authorities to another key figure, Nadeem, operating from Bhagirath Palace in Chandni Chowk. Subsequent actions based on his disclosures resulted in the arrest of Navneet in Azamgarh district, Uttar Pradesh, and the discovery of a significant stockpile in a locked godown in Ambedkar City, Noida.

Further investigations unveiled the involvement of Ashish in procuring Tramadol and Alprazolam from the Noida godown, leading to his arrest. The police team also captured the main suspect, Shiv Narayan Jha, who implicated his associate, Aman Sharma, in the operation. The seized contraband, totaling over 19 lakh tablets and capsules, marks a substantial blow to the illicit supply chain of controlled pharmaceuticals.
