In a shocking incident in Siddipet town, Telangana, a police Constable and his wife murdered a realtor, Belde Vishwanatham, on May 2. The couple, identified as Gauthi Praveen and Rajitha, killed Vishwanatham to steal the 10 tolas of gold he had on him. This crime was driven by the couple’s addiction to online betting and their mounting debts totaling Rs 30 lakh.

Police investigations revealed that Praveen, a Constable at the Central Crime Station in Siddipet, had mortgaged a plot to Vishwanatham for Rs 12 lakh. Due to financial difficulties, the couple resorted to extreme measures to clear their debts. They lured Vishwanatham to an isolated location, strangled him with a wire, and disposed of his body in a canal near Imambad. The couple then sold the stolen gold in Hyderabad to address their financial woes.

The police cracked the case after the victim’s family reported him missing, leading to the arrest of Praveen and Rajitha. Further investigations uncovered another crime committed by the couple on April 25, where they robbed an elderly woman of her gold chain. The stolen chain was sold for Rs 4.80 lakh, which was also lost in online betting. The couple’s criminal activities came to light during the probe, highlighting a pattern of deceit and violence in their desperate bid to alleviate their financial troubles.
