Police discovered the body of a young woman in a hotel room in Madhyamgram, North 24 Parganas district, after breaking open the door on Tuesday. The woman, identified as Reena Ram, 38, from Patuli Shibatala in North 24 Parganas, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in room number 101. Her boyfriend has been taken into custody in connection with her death.
Reena had checked into the hotel three days earlier and was often seen at the hotel accompanied by a young man. Despite being married, she had not been in contact with her husband for a while and had been involved with a local man ten years her junior. Her family alleged that recent disputes with her boyfriend led to her demise and filed a complaint against him.
On July 18, both Reena and her boyfriend checked into the hotel, but he left the same day, leaving her alone for the next two days. Concerned hotel staff, unable to reach the man on Tuesday morning, alerted the police after finding Reena’s body. The authorities broke into the room, confirming her death, and subsequently arrested the boyfriend for questioning, with a case registered against him.
