Police in Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir, have apprehended six drug peddlers and seized over 3.7 kg of narcotics along with Rs 10,450 in cash. The arrests and seizures were part of an intensified anti-drug campaign by the Anantnag Police in three separate operations.
During a checkpoint at Danter, four individuals tried to escape upon seeing the police but were caught. The search led to the discovery of 3.178 kg of ganja powder and the cash. The arrested individuals were identified as Shabir Qayoom, Zahid Manzoor, and Faizan Lone.
In another incident at Marhama Crossing, police intercepted a vehicle and arrested Mohammad Tufail Hajam and Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday, seizing brown sugar and charas-like substances. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act.
In a third case at Doodhnad Waghama, Javaid Ahmad Mantoo was caught with 468 grams of charas powder. An FIR has been filed under the NDPS Act. Anantnag Police emphasized their zero-tolerance approach towards drugs and urged the public to assist in combating drug-related activities.
