After a significant question paper leak before the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026 in Maharashtra, a senior police official disclosed that additional suspects would be apprehended soon in connection with the incident. The culprits had planned to sell the exam paper for approximately Rs 1.5 crore. The Maharashtra State Council of Examinations (MSCE) canceled the exam following a raid by the Bhiwandi Police that uncovered the alleged leak.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Bhiwandi Zone 2), Pawan Bansod, mentioned that they received information about outsiders arriving in Bhiwandi with the question paper. The police set a trap and arrested three individuals who were found with four different exam papers. The police then verified that the exam was scheduled for the following day.
DCP Bansod emphasized the need to investigate the exam paper leak cases thoroughly as instructed by senior police officials and the state government. The police have registered an FIR and anticipate more arrests in the future. The accused had intended to sell the exam question paper for Rs 1.5 crore.
The Education Department and Thane Police have initiated a joint investigation to identify the mastermind behind the leak, determine the breach in security protocols, and ascertain any potential involvement of internal Board officials. The MSCE has promised candidates that a new date for the Maharashtra TET 2026 will be announced soon. Updates on rescheduled exam dates and guidelines will be posted on the Maharashtra State Council of Examinations’ official website.
