Political activity within Tamil Nadu’s National Democratic Alliance (NDA) escalated as key allies, PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss and AMMK general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran, traveled to New Delhi to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah amid ongoing seat-sharing talks for the upcoming Assembly elections.
This series of visits by NDA leaders marks a critical juncture in alliance discussions, following AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s recent meeting with Shah in Delhi. The BJP’s efforts to streamline seat allocation and enhance unity among its Tamil Nadu allies are evident through these high-level interactions.
Dhinakaran, addressing reporters at Chennai airport, clarified that his visit was not solely focused on alliance matters but emphasized AMMK’s continued participation in the NDA under Amit Shah’s leadership at the national level. He mentioned receiving an invitation from Shah four days prior, indicating pre-scheduled arrangements for the meeting.
Anbumani Ramadoss, another key figure in the NDA, maintained silence before departing, adding significance to his visit. The PMK’s crucial role, especially in northern Tamil Nadu, is anticipated to influence seat-sharing negotiations and campaign strategies significantly.
Returning from his meeting in Delhi, Palaniswami expressed optimism about finalizing AIADMK-BJP seat-sharing talks within the next four days. He described the discussions as smooth, foreseeing no major obstacles in reaching an agreement and hinted at the imminent release of the AIADMK’s election manifesto.
As various NDA allies engage directly with the central leadership, analysts predict forthcoming clarity on constituency allocation and alliance dynamics, setting the stage for a closely contested Assembly election in Tamil Nadu.
