The Leader of the Opposition, V.D. Satheesan, has accused the CPI-M of using a “repeat strategy” to polarize voters in Perambra. Satheesan claimed that the campaign against UDF candidate Fathima Thahliya is part of a deliberate effort by the ruling front to create communal divisions. He criticized the state police for closing the previous case related to the ‘kafir screenshot,’ suggesting a reluctance to pursue politically sensitive cases.
Framing the issue in the context of upcoming elections, Satheesan stated that the CPI-M is resorting to desperate measures due to growing anti-incumbency against the Pinarayi Vijayan government. He warned that attempts to sow religious discord will not alleviate public dissatisfaction and called on the Election Commission to take swift action against those behind the alleged campaign. The controversy in Perambra has sparked tensions between the LDF and UDF, with the Election Commission issuing notices to both candidates involved.
