The Special Vigilance Unit in Bihar apprehended a postal official in Jamui district for reportedly accepting a bribe. Ajay Kumar Singh, a Postal Supervisor at the Jhajha office, was caught red-handed accepting Rs 6,000. The arrest followed a complaint by Purushottam Kumar, the Branch Postmaster of Sangrampur, who accused Singh of demanding the bribe for official work.
The Vigilance Bureau, upon receiving the complaint, conducted a verification and found merit in the allegations. A vigilance team, including a woman officer, set a trap and caught Singh in the act of accepting the bribe. Post-arrest, officials took Singh to the Jhajha Post Office for further investigation, collecting mobile phones and examining official documents during the process.
The arrested official will be taken to Patna for legal procedures and presented in the Special Vigilance Court. This operation is part of Bihar’s anti-corruption efforts in government offices and marks a significant vigilance action in the Jhajha region. The case will progress through the legal system, with the allegations subject to thorough investigation and judicial review.
