Power supply is set to be reinstated by Friday night in most flood-hit villages of Valsad and Navsari districts, with restoration work continuing until Saturday due to severe damage caused by heavy rainfall in South Gujarat. Teams from electricity distribution companies and local authorities are working tirelessly to repair damaged infrastructure like electricity poles, transformers, and power lines to ensure quick restoration of essential services.
The state government has deployed senior officers to supervise the restoration efforts, with IAS officer Raj Suthar overseeing operations in Valsad district and IAS officer Ketan Joshi leading the efforts in Navsari. The administration is focused on providing relief measures and essential services to all affected families promptly, urging residents to cooperate with officials during the restoration process.
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi visited flood-affected areas in Umargam taluka of Valsad district to assess the extensive damage caused by the unprecedented rainfall. Umargam experienced a record 42.56 inches of rain in a single day during the current monsoon, leading to significant destruction across multiple villages. Sanghavi directed officials to expedite damage surveys and ensure swift financial assistance to affected residents.
During his visit, Sanghavi, along with local representatives and administrative officials, interacted with residents to gauge the impact of the floods and instructed immediate government support for affected families, especially farmers and livestock rearers. Valsad MP Dhaval Patel and other public representatives accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister during the assessment, emphasizing the importance of timely assistance for those affected by the calamity.
