President Droupadi Murmu paid her respects at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Bucharest, Romania, as part of her Europe visit. The tomb symbolizes Romania’s gratitude to its fallen soldiers and stands as a national emblem of patriotism, unity, and peace.

During her visit, President Murmu addressed the India–Romania Business Forum in Bucharest alongside President Nicusor Dan of Romania and other dignitaries. She highlighted the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047,’ aiming to elevate India into a developed nation by its centenary of Independence, inviting international partnerships, investments, and technology collaborations.

Emphasizing the significance of the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA), President Murmu stressed the potential of this economic partnership, aiming to deepen trade integration, boost investment flows, and fortify resilient supply chains. She underlined the importance of prompt and effective FTA implementation for fostering a conducive business environment and fostering growth opportunities for businesses on both sides.

President Murmu also noted the complementarity between India’s digital infrastructure, startup ecosystem, and IT leadership with Romania’s expertise in software engineering, cybersecurity, and advanced technologies. She expressed optimism that the business communities of both countries would capitalize on these synergies to forge successful commercial alliances and encouraged Romanian companies to actively engage in India’s growth trajectory.
