President Droupadi Murmu, at the India–Romania Business Forum in Bucharest, called on Romanian companies to actively participate in India’s rapid economic growth. She highlighted India’s emergence as the world’s fastest-growing economy, offering abundant opportunities for international partnerships, investments, and technology collaborations. Romania, with its strategic location in Europe, skilled workforce, advanced industries, and EU integration, stands as a natural and valuable partner for India.
The President emphasized that Romania not only serves as a key investment destination but also as a gateway to the broader European market. She noted the significant presence of an Indian business delegation at the Forum, showcasing Indian industries’ increasing confidence in Romania’s potential and their interest in fostering long-term partnerships with Romanian firms.
President Murmu underscored the importance of trade and economic cooperation in the India-Romania relationship. The India-EU Free Trade Agreement, encompassing a market of nearly two billion people and a combined economic size of around $25 trillion, aims to deepen trade ties, boost investment flows, and establish resilient supply chains. The effective implementation of this agreement is deemed crucial to providing a conducive business environment, enhancing value chain integration, and creating new opportunities for businesses on both sides.
India is actively working towards fostering a transparent and investor-friendly business environment through simplified taxation and production-linked incentives. The President highlighted the potential for collaboration between India and Romania in energy security, green transition, chemical and fertilizers industry, software engineering, cyber-security, research, advanced technologies, transportation, logistics, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, agriculture, and food processing sectors. She expressed confidence in the business communities of both countries leveraging these opportunities to build successful commercial partnerships, resilient supply chains, promote innovation, and create sustainable prosperity.
