President Droupadi Murmu awarded the National Florence Nightingale Awards for 2026 to 15 nurses on International Nurses Day at Rashtrapati Bhavan. These nurses were recognized for their exceptional service, dedication to public health, and community welfare. The awards, presented by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, celebrate the commitment and resilience of nursing professionals.
In her message, the President praised nurses for upholding high service standards and providing quality healthcare, especially in challenging situations. The recipients, including Registered Nurses, Midwives, and others from various sectors, received a Certificate of Merit, a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, and a medal as a token of appreciation. Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda and Minister of State Prataprao Jadhav also attended the event.
This year’s theme, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives,” emphasizes the vital role nurses play in healthcare systems. Minister Nadda highlighted the importance of investing in nurses’ well-being to build healthier communities and a stronger future. The awardees, from different regions across India, were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the nursing profession.
