Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his sorrow over the tragic incident where six individuals lost their lives in a road accident in Karnataka’s Uttara Kannada district. The Prime Minister extended his heartfelt condolences to the families affected by the accident and wished a swift recovery for the injured. The fatal collision occurred between a Cruiser and a truck in the Arabail Ghat section of Yellapura taluk, resulting in the deaths of six friends and leaving four others in critical condition.
At the time of the accident, the victims, who were all residents of Dharwad, were on a trip to Dharmasthala and Chikkamagaluru. The group, which included the driver, were part-time delivery workers for an online food delivery company and had departed from Dharwad the previous night. The collision, where the truck collided head-on with the Cruiser near Balagar, was so intense that the passenger vehicle was severely damaged, leading to the immediate death of six occupants.
The deceased individuals have been identified as Basavaraj (48), Abhisheik Eshwar (28), Akshay Mallannanvar (26), Abhishek Mallesh Mudabavi (26), Sanjeeva, and Sanjaya Angadi (30). The injured, namely Shivaraj Durgappa Madival, Manjunath Ashok Chulaki, Sachin, and Channabasayya Basalingaiah Sampagaon, were promptly rescued by locals and taken to a nearby hospital. Currently, all four are in critical condition and receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Following the accident, the Yellapura police arrived at the scene, moved the bodies for post-mortem examination, and informed the families of the deceased. A case has been registered, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the tragic incident. Authorities have mentioned that the death toll may rise as a result of the accident.
