Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated ‘World Environment Day’ by joining a tree plantation initiative called ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’. This initiative encourages people to plant a tree in their mother’s name, blending environmental consciousness with a tribute to family. Modi participated in the nationwide campaign by planting a sapling, which he inaugurated on World Environment Day in 2024.
The program has evolved into a significant movement to boost green cover nationwide and raise public awareness about ecology. During his Gujarat visit, Modi also inspected industrial operations and major infrastructure projects in Hazira. This review encompassed crucial industrial units, including heavy engineering and manufacturing facilities pivotal to India’s industrial and defense sectors.
Officials reported that Modi assessed project advancements, operational efficiency, and expansion initiatives in the Hazira industrial zone. Hazira plays a vital role in advanced manufacturing and heavy engineering, with ongoing efforts to enhance production capacity and logistics connectivity. In Surat, the Prime Minister’s visit witnessed extensive tree plantation drives in line with the environmental theme of the day, promoting green mobility and sustainable urban practices.
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi highlighted Modi’s call to conserve fuel and prioritize public transport, cycling, and walking for short-distance commutes. The visit emphasized the importance of environmental sustainability and citizen participation in fostering a greener future.
