Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to engage in the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit-level discussions with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in New Delhi on Thursday. The meeting aims to assess and enhance the entire range of bilateral cooperation while exchanging perspectives on regional and global matters of mutual concern.
Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi will receive a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan during her visit to New Delhi. She arrived in the capital on Wednesday evening, commencing a three-day official trip.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) welcomed Prime Minister Takaichi, emphasizing the significance of advancing the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between India and Japan. Japan’s Ambassador to India, Ono Keiichi, expressed optimism that the visit would facilitate increased people-to-people exchanges, fostering deeper ties between the two nations.
During the Human Resource Mobility Forum, pathways for collaboration between India and Japan were explored, focusing on skill-based mobility initiatives. Prime Minister Takaichi highlighted the importance of strengthening the strategic partnership with India, particularly in economic security and business collaboration for investment and innovation.
Takaichi underscored the shared responsibility of India and Japan in upholding peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. She expressed eagerness to discuss efforts towards realizing a Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) with Prime Minister Modi, emphasizing the significance of cooperation within the Quad framework.
