The prime suspect in a recent Customer Service Point (CSP) robbery case was apprehended by police after an encounter near an orchard in Revasi village, Sitamarhi district, Bihar. Identified as Phekan Kumar, he fired at the police during the arrest attempt, resulting in a leg injury from police gunfire. Kumar was first treated at Sadar Hospital and later transferred to SKMCH, Muzaffarpur, for further medical attention.
Sitamarhi Superintendent of Police, Amit Ranjan, mentioned that the encounter occurred during a police search operation when Kumar and his associates fired at the police team. In response, the police fired back, injuring Kumar. The suspect is linked to a robbery of Rs 1.5 lakh from a Central Bank of India CSP operator in Anhari village on July 1.
Police investigations, aided by CCTV footage and intelligence, led to the identification of Kumar. Following his escape on a motorcycle, a districtwide search operation was initiated. Kumar was eventually located near Revasi village, where the police arrested him after an exchange of gunfire. The police also seized firearms and the motorcycle allegedly used in the crime.
Efforts are ongoing to capture other suspects involved in the robbery case. Phekan Kumar, known for his criminal history, was released from jail just days before the CSP robbery. Authorities are pursuing legal action based on evidence gathered during the investigation.
