Congress General Secretary and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra kicked off the party’s campaign in Kerala with a passionate speech criticizing the BJP-led Union government and the ruling LDF. Addressing the crowd in Thiruvananthapuram district, she highlighted Kerala’s legacy of social reform and praised the state’s values of equality and communal harmony. Priyanka Gandhi drew inspiration from social reformer Sree Narayana Guru, emphasizing Kerala’s tradition of diverse communities living in harmony.

Priyanka Gandhi shared personal stories to connect with the audience, praising the dedication and service ethic of Malayalis in various fields. She also focused on the challenges faced by farmers and rural workers in Wayanad, her constituency. Transitioning to governance issues, she criticized the state government for failing to address unemployment, low wages, and deficiencies in the public health system.

The Congress leader launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies, blaming the Centre for economic challenges such as rising fuel and LPG prices. She expressed concerns about the impact of recent trade decisions on MSMEs and farmers. Priyanka Gandhi accused the LDF government of being ineffective in countering the Centre’s policies, urging voters to demand accountability from those in power at both state and national levels.

Emphasizing a choice between continuity and change, Priyanka Gandhi outlined the Congress-led UDF’s welfare agenda, including proposals for women’s free bus travel and support for coastal communities and struggling sectors like coir. She urged voters to prioritize development and compassion in governance decisions. As the campaign gains momentum, her speech sets the stage for a competitive electoral battle in Kerala.
