India’s Priyanuj Bhattacharya and Japan’s Miku Matshusima emerged victorious in the U-19 boys’ and U-19 girls’ singles categories at the WTT Youth Contender 2026 in Vadodara. The tournament, presented by Sports Authority of Gujarat, saw Sreejani Chakraborty, Aditya Das, Aadya Baheti, and Rajdeep Biswas also claim titles across different age groups. A total of 226 players participated in the event organized by the Table Tennis Association of Baroda and implemented by UTT.
In the U-19 boys’ final, Priyanuj defeated Sarthak Arya in straight sets, while Miku overcame Divyanshi Bhowmick after a tough battle. Notably, top seed Abhinandh Pradhivadhi was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Naman Bhatnagar, who later fell to Priyanuj in the semifinals. In the girls’ U-19 category, Miku defeated Jennifer Varghese in the semifinals.
The tournament also witnessed Aadya winning the girls U-11 title by beating Sakshya Santosh, and Biswas securing the U-11 boys singles title by defeating Sharvil Karambelkar. Aditya Das dominated the boys’ U-15 final, while Sreejani emerged victorious in the girls’ U-15 event. Vivaan Dave and Rudra Jena advanced in the boys’ U-15 category, while Ankolika Chakraborty, Naisha Rewaskar, and Tanishka Kalbhairav progressed in the girls’ U-15 singles.
