The Pro Wrestling League’s impact extended to the domestic circuit as wrestlers from its fifth season excelled at the Senior Open Ranking wrestling tournament in Gonda. These performances earned them spots in selection trials for the World Championships and Commonwealth Championships, showcasing the league’s growing significance in India’s wrestling landscape.
Several PWL Season five athletes displayed impressive skills at the tournament, highlighting the benefits of competing against top talent. The success of these wrestlers in the domestic arena further emphasizes the talent pool nurtured by the league, following their achievements on the international stage.
In the men’s freestyle category, notable victories included Sagar from the UP Dominators securing gold in the 57kg division and Yash Tushir from Maharashtra Kesari triumphing in the 74kg category. Tushir’s comeback journey, marked by overcoming injuries and rehabilitation, culminated in a gold medal win, positioning him for future global events.
Naveen from Tigers of Mumbai Dangals claimed gold in the 79kg category, while Deepak Punia of Maharashtra Kesari added another gold in the 92 kg division. Among women competitors, Anjali of Delhi Dangal Warriors secured a silver medal in the 62kg category, enhancing her chances for national team selection.

The league’s impact is evident as PWL wrestlers contributed to 11 out of India’s 17 medals at the Senior Asian Wrestling Championships, establishing it as a crucial pathway for Indian wrestlers to succeed at regional and global levels.
