The investigation into the death of Tripura’s Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag is gaining momentum as the state police authority has increased the inquiry team from three to ten members. Anurag, a senior IPS officer, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the washroom of his official chamber on July 20. The inquiry team, led by Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak, has been reconstituted with additional members to expedite the investigation.

The reconstituted team, under SP Pathak’s leadership, includes officers from various police stations and outposts. They are tasked with conducting a thorough and law-abiding investigation while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Daily briefing and debriefing meetings will be held to review progress, assign tasks, and plan further investigative strategies. Specific officers will be responsible for executing tasks promptly and coordinating closely with other team members.

The investigation team will submit daily progress reports detailing activities, evidence collected, technical analyses, and proposed actions for monitoring and supervision. Additionally, a weekly progress report will be consolidated and submitted to the Inspector General of Police, Law and Order. Amid calls for a judicial inquiry into Anurag’s death, political parties and officials are demanding transparency and accountability in uncovering the truth behind the incident. Anurag, a respected officer with a distinguished career, was cremated with full state honors, and his legacy in law enforcement is remembered by many.
