Professor C. Raj Kumar, the Founding Vice Chancellor of O.P. Jindal Global University and Founding Dean of Jindal Global Law School, has been honored with the 2nd Professor (Dr.) S.R. Bhansali National Award for Excellence in Law. This prestigious award, jointly conferred this year on Professor G.S. Bajpai, Vice Chancellor of National Law University, Delhi, recognizes eminent legal scholars and institution builders for their significant contributions to the field of law and legal education.
The award, established by the Family Trust of Professor Sanwat Raj Uchab Kanwar Bhansali Education and Charitable Trust in memory of Prof (Dr) S.R. Bhansali, aims to acknowledge the exceptional work of individuals in the legal domain. Professor C. Raj Kumar was selected for his remarkable efforts in legal education, including the establishment of Jindal Global Law School, India’s top-ranked law school for six consecutive years. His initiatives in promoting global legal education and his scholarly work have been instrumental in shaping the legal landscape.
Professor G.S. Bajpai, the co-recipient of the award, has also made significant contributions to the field of law and legal education, particularly in criminal law and the criminal justice system. His scholarly work has had a profound impact and wide readership. Both awardees were chosen by a distinguished jury comprising eminent jurists, Vice Chancellors, and renowned academicians, including Justice A.K. Sikri and Professor Upendra Baxi.
