Family members and residents in Ranchi protested for the fourth consecutive day, demanding the recovery of an 18-month-old girl who went missing four days ago. The protest at Koker Chowk caused a one-hour traffic blockage, leading to congestion on the National Highway and disrupting vehicular movement. The Sadar police station and traffic police intervened to redirect traffic through alternative routes upon learning of the blockade.
Aditi Pandey disappeared near her home on May 9 at around 4:30 p.m., prompting her family to file a complaint at the Sadar police station. Responding to the situation, Ranchi police formed multiple teams to search for the child and offered a reward of Rs 50,000 for any information leading to her location. Initial investigations suggested the possibility of the child falling into a nearby drain, prompting a joint search operation by NDRF, the municipal corporation, and Ranchi Police along the Koker Khorhatoli to Swarnarekha river stretch near Namkum.
A piece of flesh and a bone found near a drain in Garhi village on Tuesday raised suspicions of a connection to the missing child, although the family disputed this, claiming the bone was from an animal based on doctors’ post-mortem examination. The family accused the police of favoring the drain theory without substantial evidence. Despite ongoing efforts by multiple police teams, the missing child remains unlocated.
