Hundreds of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal members protested in Agartala, calling for Indian government intervention against rising atrocities on minority Hindus in Bangladesh. The VHP Tripura chapter Secretary, Sankar Ray, highlighted the worsening situation for Hindus in Bangladesh, leading to repeated protests in Tripura. Ray emphasized the need for action to address the targeted violence against Hindus in the neighboring country.
The protesters cited recent incidents, including the killing of a Hindu youth, Dipu Chandra Das, in Bangladesh, alleging false allegations and brutal violence by a radical mob. They urged the Indian government to take direct action to protect Hindus in Bangladesh and combat radical forces. Additionally, they appealed for humanitarian assistance, requesting safe passage for marginalized Hindus from Chittagong to enter Tripura and live with dignity.
The protest rally, which began at Agartala Town Hall, aimed to reach the Integrated Check post at the Agartala-Akhaura border with Bangladesh. However, police halted the march due to security concerns, leading to a minor scuffle between protesters and law enforcement. This protest marked the third demonstration in Agartala against the atrocities faced by minorities in Bangladesh, with various organizations and political parties condemning the violence.
