From Sacramento to Sonora, and from San Francisco to Los Angeles, various protests against the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) took place in California. These protests, known as “ICE OUT For Good,” were coordinated by multiple groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union and the 50501 Movement. In Pasadena, over 500 demonstrators gathered near city hall, chanting slogans like “No ICE, No KKK, No Fascist USA.”
According to a statement from the 50501 Movement, at least 32 individuals died while in ICE custody in 2025. The recent protests were in response to two specific incidents: the fatal shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis and the injuring of two individuals by another agent in Portland, Oregon. Activist Dias Alan emphasized the need for the community to unite in protest to honor the life of the deceased lady.
A protester named Jenny, an immigrant from Australia, expressed her concerns about ICE, stating that it poses a threat to public safety and all immigrants. She called for the removal of ICE from the streets, alleging violations of the US Constitution, particularly the 14th Amendment. Jenny stressed the importance of upholding constitutional rights for all individuals in the country.
