Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters are staging rallies across Pakistan to oppose the court’s decision sentencing PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to 17 years in prison in the Toshakhana-II case. Demonstrations took place outside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly building in Peshawar, where protesters voiced their support for Imran Khan. PTI leaders denounced the verdict, calling it a setback to Pakistan’s judiciary, and announced plans for nationwide protests. Imran Khan intends to challenge the court’s ruling in the Islamabad High Court. Security forces have been deployed in Rawalpindi to maintain order amid escalating tensions following the court’s decision. The case revolves around the acquisition of a valuable jewelry set gifted to Imran Khan by the Saudi Crown Prince at a reduced price during an official visit. Imran Khan has been sentenced to 17 years in prison, with 10 years for various offenses under the Pakistan Penal Code and seven years under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
