Puducherry Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has started his fifth term in office after being sworn in following the formation of a new government in the union territory. Rangasamy expressed his commitment to working for the people’s welfare and the state’s development, emphasizing the government’s dedication to implementing measures for growth.
President Droupadi Murmu appointed Rangasamy as Chief Minister of Puducherry, leading to his formal invitation by Lieutenant Governor Kailashnathan to establish the new government. With a political career spanning over two decades, Rangasamy, aged 76, has previously served as Chief Minister and played a significant role in the region’s governance.
In the recent Assembly elections, Rangasamy secured victories in two constituencies, showcasing his political influence in Puducherry. His party, the AINRC-led NDA, clinched a substantial majority in the Assembly, with 18 MLAs supporting the alliance, surpassing the required mark for governance.
The swearing-in ceremony marked the commencement of the new administration in Puducherry, with additional ministers expected to join the government soon. Rangasamy’s return to power signifies a continuation of the AINRC-led NDA’s governance, focusing on development, welfare programs, and administrative stability.
