The Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party held an NRI Samellan named “Punjabi Diaspora Meet” in Chandigarh. During the event, state working President Ashwani Sharma praised the Punjabi diaspora for their significant role in elevating Punjab and India globally. He highlighted the diaspora’s connection to their homeland and commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for enhancing India’s international reputation.
The gathering aimed to address the concerns and suggestions of NRIs on Punjab’s progress. Sharma urged NRIs to actively participate in the state’s development, focusing on issues like drugs, law and order, and economic challenges. He reaffirmed the BJP’s dedication to fostering unity, peace, and prosperity in Punjab under a strong leadership.
In the closing session, national General Secretary Tarun Chugh emphasized the BJP government’s recognition of NRIs based on their Indian heritage rather than their passport color. Chugh underscored India’s economic growth under PM Modi and called for NRIs’ support in revitalizing Punjab’s economy and security. He assured NRIs of equal rights, investment protection, and a conducive environment in Punjab akin to BJP-governed states.
Prominent BJP leaders including Union Minister Virendra Kumar, parliamentary board member Iqbal Singh Lalpura, and foreign affairs department member Ashwin Johar attended the event.
