Punjab BJP President, Sunil Jakhar criticized Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for not implementing the Central government’s Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in the state. Jakhar accused Mann of neglecting his duties and transferring responsibilities to AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal. The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is a crop insurance scheme sponsored by the Central government, aiming to protect farmers from losses.
Jakhar highlighted that despite Mann’s promise three years ago to introduce a state crop insurance scheme, Punjab has not implemented the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. He pointed out that farmers in the state suffered significant losses last year, with approximately 4.5 lakh acres of land damaged. Jakhar further criticized Mann for allegedly surrendering to Kejriwal and neglecting the welfare of Punjab’s farmers.
The Punjab BJP chief emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating that the lives of many farmers are at stake. He urged Chief Minister Mann to fulfill his responsibility by implementing the Central government’s scheme or introducing a state-specific alternative. Jakhar expressed concern that farmers are facing difficulties due to the lack of action on crop insurance initiatives.
