Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reducing excise duty on petrol and completely removing it on diesel. This move comes in response to the surge in global crude oil prices due to tensions in West Asia. While fuel prices have spiked worldwide, India stands out as an exception, with the government opting to ease the burden on the public.
Jakhar highlighted the government’s decision to prioritize public welfare by absorbing the financial pressure caused by rising fuel prices. He emphasized that PM Modi’s choice to reduce taxes aims to shield common citizens from global inflation. This step not only benefits the public but also alleviates the financial strain on oil companies, showcasing the government’s commitment to economic stability and citizen welfare.
The Punjab BJP President further noted the imposition of export duties on diesel and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) to maintain domestic availability and prevent exploitation of international price variations. This strategic move underscores the government’s focus on ensuring economic stability and safeguarding public interests amid challenging global circumstances.
