Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann affirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating the drug issue in the state, emphasizing the success of the Yudh Nashean Virudh campaign. This initiative has resulted in the arrest of over 63,707 drug smugglers within 437 days, along with the demolition of properties funded by drug money.
Speaking at an anti-drug awareness event commemorating the 38th Gurugaddi Divas of Sant Trilochan Das Ji Maharaj in Batala, Chief Minister Mann described the fight against drugs and organized crime as a collective effort involving every Punjabi citizen supporting the government.
Chief Minister Mann also highlighted the impact of the Gangstran Te Vaar campaign spanning 112 days, ongoing welfare programs for women, and healthcare initiatives. He credited the government’s stringent “anti-beadbi” law for curbing sacrilege incidents of Guru Granth Sahib.
Under the Yudh Nashean Virudh campaign, the government not only disrupted drug supply chains but also focused on rehabilitating victims while seizing properties belonging to smugglers. Chief Minister Mann urged the people of Punjab to unite in making the state drug-free, emphasizing the need for a collective movement against drugs.
Emphasizing Punjab’s spiritual heritage, Chief Minister Mann underscored the teachings of great Gurus and martyrs who advocated standing against injustice. He expressed confidence that Punjab would soon be completely free from the scourge of drugs.
