Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann emphasized the need for increasing international flights from Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport in Mohali. He highlighted that enhancing overseas operations would have a significant positive impact on economic activity, tourism, and investments in the region. Chandigarh International Airport Limited (CHIAL) recently presented a Rs 19 crore interim dividend to the government, showcasing the airport’s consistent growth.

CM Mann, during discussions with CHIAL officials, underscored the airport’s growth as a result of the strong collaboration between the Centre and Punjab governments. He expressed the government’s dedication to expanding international services from Mohali to link the state with global destinations. This initiative aims to create employment opportunities for the youth, making Punjab an attractive hub for international business and tourism.

The Chief Minister emphasized that improved global air connectivity from Mohali would facilitate the movement of entrepreneurs, traders, and industrialists, thereby enhancing trade, commerce, and economic activities in the region. He envisioned that increased flights from the airport would not only benefit the local population but also attract global entrepreneurs to invest significantly in Punjab, fostering industrialization and positioning the state as a preferred investment destination.

CHIAL management extended appreciation to the Chief Minister and the government for their guidance and support, which have been instrumental in the airport’s progress and operational efficiency. The dividend for 2025-26 was announced by the CHIAL board on December 12, 2025.
