Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann inaugurated eco-friendly huts at Saleran Dam to enhance eco-tourism and create jobs. He emphasized that the AAP government is focusing on developing tourism destinations to increase employment opportunities. Film shoots and events in cities like Amritsar and Patiala have also contributed to job growth, with the Saleran Dam project aiming to rival Himachal Pradesh’s tourism spots.
The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s efforts in restoring 52 dilapidated rest houses, now generating Rs 1 crore monthly in rental income. He criticized past administrations for selling government properties at low prices to associates, whereas his government has reclaimed those assets. Mann expressed optimism about the Saleran Dam Eco-Tourism Project, projecting an annual revenue of over Rs 18 lakh from the Rs 2.80 crore initiative.
During the inauguration, CM Mann underlined the project’s benefits, including job creation for local youth and increased tourist footfall. The project features amenities like a 16,000 square feet playground for children, four eco huts for tourists, and a cafeteria seating 80 people. Additionally, an amphitheatre offers panoramic views of the Saleran Dam, aligning with the government’s focus on eco-friendly tourism and ecological balance.
