Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed his intention to present himself before Sri Akal Takht Sahib not as a Chief Minister but as a humble Sikh. He emphasized the sanctity of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, revered as the highest temporal seat of the Sikh community.
CM Mann affirmed his respect for Sri Akal Takht Sahib, stating that any directive from this revered institution would be honored with utmost reverence. He pledged to approach Sri Akal Takht Sahib barefoot, underscoring his commitment as a devout Sikh.
Despite the President’s scheduled visit to Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar, CM Mann prioritized his appearance before Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He emphasized that the directives from Sri Akal Takht Sahib hold paramount importance for him and his family, transcending all other considerations.
Akal Takht Jathedar Kuldip Singh Gargaj summoned CM Mann for January 15 to provide clarification regarding alleged disrespectful remarks against Sikh institutions. The Jathedar highlighted concerns over CM Mann’s actions in videos that were deemed derogatory towards Sikh Gurus and Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.
