Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has urged the Indian government to ensure a steady supply of petrol, diesel, and DAP fertilizer as the state prepares for a 140 LMT wheat harvest. He emphasized the importance of maintaining fuel availability to safeguard national food security during the harvesting season. Mann highlighted that Punjab has ample stocks of wheat and paddy to support the nation.
During a virtual meeting with the Prime Minister, CM Mann informed that Punjab is expected to yield 140 LMT of wheat this year. He stressed the necessity of sufficient fuel supply for smooth harvesting and transportation operations, involving a large number of agricultural vehicles. Mann emphasized that it is crucial to uphold the country’s food security at all costs.
Assuring the public, the Chief Minister stated that there is no need for panic regarding fuel shortages. Punjab currently maintains a stock of 12–14 days of petrol and diesel, along with six days of LPG. He mentioned that the state is closely monitoring supplies to prevent hoarding and black marketing. Operational data revealed efficient delivery of LPG refills and emphasized that there is no likelihood of a lockdown in Punjab.
CM Mann reiterated Punjab’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted operations in agriculture and industry. The state is prepared to contribute 41 LMT of wheat from its current reserves, along with the expected harvest of 140 LMT this year and 139 LMT of paddy. Mann affirmed Punjab’s dedication to supporting the nation in times of need and highlighted the state’s readiness to provide essential food supplies when required.
Welcoming the Government of India’s decision to reduce additional taxes on petrol and diesel, the Chief Minister viewed it as a positive step to boost confidence in the fuel pricing system.
