Indian Super League (ISL) team Punjab FC has secured defender Khaimingthang Lhungdim for an additional three years, ahead of the 2026-27 season. Lhungdim, who joined Punjab FC from NEROCA FC before the I-League 2022-23 season, has been an integral part of the team for the past four seasons. He was a key player in Punjab FC’s historic I-League victory and subsequent promotion to the Indian Super League.
Lhungdim has showcased his versatility and defensive prowess in 85 appearances across various competitions, contributing one goal and seven assists. He has consistently displayed his leadership skills, even captaining Punjab FC during the 2025-26 ISL season. Throughout the 2025-26 campaign, he featured in 12 ISL matches, further solidifying his importance to the team.
Expressing his commitment to the club, Khaimingthang Lhungdim stated, “Punjab FC feels like home to me. My growth, both as a player and an individual, has been remarkable during my time here. Winning the I-League and debuting in the ISL are among the highlights of my career. Wearing this jersey fills me with pride, and I believe our brightest days are yet to come, which is why I am extending my stay.”
With a journey that spans from the I-League to the ISL, Lhungdim’s extension brings continuity and experience to Punjab FC as they gear up for future seasons. Established in 2020, Punjab FC made its mark by winning the I-League in the 2022-23 season and subsequently earning promotion to the ISL. In the recently concluded 2025-26 ISL season, the team secured the 14th position.
