Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Cheema criticized Congress legislator Sukhpal Singh Khaira for making disrespectful comments about women. Cheema called for Khaira’s expulsion from the party due to his offensive remarks directed at the women of Punjab. The condemnation followed Khaira’s questioning of how women celebrating a government scheme could raise brave individuals.

Cheema expressed deep disappointment over Khaira’s derogatory statement, emphasizing the importance of respecting women in Punjab. He highlighted the historical values of Punjab that have always upheld the dignity of women. Cheema described Khaira’s comments as regressive and unacceptable in a state known for its respect for women.

The Finance Minister criticized the Congress leadership for failing to control its language and behavior. He pointed out that even senior leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi had to intervene in the past to address such issues. Cheema also highlighted the positive impact of government initiatives like the Mawan Dhian Satkar scheme during the Budget discussion.
