The Punjab government has officially commenced year-long celebrations for the 650th Guru Purb, honoring Guru Ravidass. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann inaugurated the festivities, announcing various religious, cultural, and academic events scheduled until February 20, 2027. These initiatives include congregations, seminars, and infrastructure projects like expanding the Sri Guru Ravidass Memorial and establishing a research center.
Emphasizing the importance of the celebrations, the Chief Minister assured that financial constraints would not hinder the observances. He pledged to implement all directives from the Sant Samaj, integrating the religious program within the governance framework of the AAP government. Mann highlighted the government’s focus on education reform, improved healthcare, and policy decisions aimed at public welfare.
During a state-level function marking the 649th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaj, Mann stressed the need to spread the Guru’s message globally. He expressed the government’s commitment to organizing the upcoming 650th Parkash Purb in a grand manner. Mann also mentioned previous events commemorating other Sikh Gurus and initiatives to perpetuate Guru Ravidass’s teachings.
The Chief Minister underscored the significance of Guru Ravidass’s teachings on equality and humanity. He mentioned the establishment of research Chairs at universities to study the Guru’s philosophy and announced plans for various events to celebrate the 650th Parkash Purb. Mann reiterated the government’s dedication to social justice and improving the lives of marginalized communities, aligning with Guru Ravidass’s principles.
