In a significant operation, Punjab Police, with the help of Central agencies and the Royal Malaysia Police, successfully deported two wanted individuals associated with the banned Khalistan Zindabad Force from Malaysia. The suspects, Gurwinder Singh and Manjeet Singh, were key operatives of a KZF-backed terror group targeting critical railway infrastructure in Punjab. Punjab Police apprehended them at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi upon their arrival and brought them to Punjab for further investigation.
Gurwinder Singh hails from Ambala, while Manjeet Singh is from Patiala. They were part of a Malaysia-based terror module linked to KZF, involved in attacks on railway infrastructure, including dedicated freight corridor lines in Punjab. Earlier, Punjab Police had dismantled a terror module responsible for an IED blast on the railway freight corridor line near Sirhind in Fatehgarh Sahib and an attempted explosion near Shambhu in Patiala district.
The investigation led to the arrest of four individuals and the recovery of significant militant weapons, such as an RPG launcher, RDX, hand grenades, and high-end pistols with ammunition. Further probes revealed the role of KZF handlers and financial facilitators in Malaysia in channelling terror funds to operatives in Punjab for executing attacks and disrupting peace in the state.
The deported suspects were pivotal in transferring terror funds through offshore accounts to KZF members in Punjab, aiding in planning terrorist activities to disrupt public order. Both individuals appeared before a court in Patiala on June 18 and have been remanded to police custody for more questioning. Punjab Police are dedicated to dismantling terrorist networks, disrupting terror financing, and ensuring peace and security in the state.
