Punjab Police have made a significant breakthrough by resolving three major terror-related incidents, including the recent Shambhu railway track blast. The arrest of a key associate of the main executor, Jagroop Singh, led to this breakthrough, as confirmed by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.
The operation was a collaborative effort involving the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar, Counter Intelligence (CI) in Pathankot, and Patiala Police. The arrested individual, Gurjinder Singh, also known as Baba Beant, hails from Bidhipur in Gurdaspur.
Investigations into the railway track explosion near Shambhu in Patiala district, which resulted in the death of Jagroop Singh, alias Jupa, led to the arrest of Gurjinder Singh. The police have apprehended four radicalized individuals and recovered a significant amount of militant hardware, including weapons and explosives.
DGP Yadav revealed that Gurjinder and Jagroop were long-time associates and had traveled separately to Rajpura on the day of the Shambhu blast to avoid detection. Gurjinder, who was present at the crime scene during the blast, managed to escape unharmed.
