Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence (CI) Jalandhar, in collaboration with Jalandhar Rural Police, has successfully dismantled an ISI-sponsored Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror cell. The operation resulted in the apprehension of a crucial operative, Satbir Singh, from Jalandhar. Satbir Singh, a resident of Padiana village in Adampur, was found in possession of explosives, including an improvised explosive device (IED) weighing 1.3 kg, along with shrapnel and ball bearings, indicating plans for a significant attack to disrupt public peace.
The swift action taken by the authorities prevented a major terror threat and ensured the safety of civilians, stated Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav. The CI Jalandhar teams acted on credible information about the BKI module receiving explosives from foreign handlers. Setting up a checkpoint at Dhandaur village, the police intercepted Satbir Singh’s motorcycle and discovered the IED during a search. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the entire terror network, involving both foreign and local elements in the conspiracy.
An FIR has been filed under relevant sections of the law at the police station in Patara, Jalandhar, to address the situation and pursue further legal actions against those involved in the terror module.
