Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Cheema announced that the state has achieved a significant milestone by becoming one of the top three states in terms of revenue growth. He highlighted the state’s financial progress over the past four years, attributing it to structural reforms, fiscal discipline, and administrative transparency.
Cheema presented data showcasing Punjab’s remarkable performance in revenue generation, stating that the state’s own tax revenue has seen a substantial increase. He noted that Punjab’s tax revenue surged from Rs 37,327 crore in 2021-22 to an impressive Rs 57,919 crore in 2024-25, marking a significant growth.
The Excise and Taxation Minister also shared statistics on excise collections, revealing a substantial 86.77% increase in excise revenue in less than four years. He compared the excise collections under different government tenures, emphasizing the remarkable revenue growth achieved by the current AAP government.
Highlighting the state’s performance in GST collections, Minister Cheema pointed out the success in this area as well. He highlighted the significant increase in GST revenue under the AAP government compared to the previous Congress administration, showcasing a positive trend in revenue generation.
